Christmas Wonderland

Happy songs about snow and bells, shining decorations and an intense smell of mulled wine… Do you know where we are? Of course, on a local Christmas market! This atmosphere cannot be mistaken with any other place – after all, it’s a quintessence of this special time.

Such markets always pull toward many people every year. And there is nothing weird, as only Grinch could refuse their promises. We can enjoy endless happiness, warm, nothing bad can meet us there. Just like in Pleasure Island where Pinocchio spent a long time with his friends prior to his big change. It’s a great escape from our day to day life, which sometimes can be boring, sometimes full of problems and tragedies. Busy with our own affairs, here we can complete what is missing in our empty houses, forget about our unsuccessful relations with other people and just let it be Christmas everywhere.

Walking through a labyrinth of Christmas stalls we can smell a choking scent of all amazing dishes offering around. Looking around our eyes are attracting by terrible beautiful Christmas puppets rocking to the rhythm of pervasive joyful music like Christmas soldiers, who care to nobody destroy the Wonderland created on this small part of our world. To fully belong here, we are ready to spend a lot of money on shoddy stuff or overpriced food, just to be able to stay a little bit longer. The markets are overcrowded, so we need to justify somehow why we are taking space that could be used by a real customer.

In this whole flutter, we can stand and think for a while whether this sooth world around is really bona fide, but what a stupid question is this? Of course, it is! We can buy it, and we wouldn’t pay for something unreal, are we? Sure not, so let’s just join the fluky crowd and sing together – Yes, we need a little Christmas right this very minute, it hasn’t snowed a single flurry, but Santa, dear, we’re in a hurry – like a warped anthem of our big, adorable family herded in this Christmas Wonderland. We deserve it or like saying one popular cosmetic brand – we are worth it! Are we?

May your days be merry and bright 🙂

  1. I love a Christmas market and all of the cheer that is around this time of year. I wish that people would keep that joy and love and gratitude in their hearts all year round, but it sometimes seems to disappear once the New Year hits 🙂

  2. Christmas markets are just amazing, especially here in Poland. Judging by the photo attached it must be Kraków, although I think its name wasn’t mentioned in the text. I love this time of the year! 🙂
